Quick Tricks For Prepping Your Home To Sell Part Two

Welcome back! After receiving positive feedback on my last “Prepping Your Home to Sell” post, I thought I’d make it into a little mini-series within the blog. There are tons of quick, budget-friendly things you can do to make your home appealing to buyers, and I’d like to make it my duty to share those with you! Let’s get down to business…

By the time a buyer arrives to tour your home, almost 100% of the requirements on their home-buying checklist have been met. Chances are they found your listing online, and the location, price, and photos they’ve viewed appealed to their needs. In order to guarantee a positive review- and maybe even a purchase- follow these simple steps to help your home achieve top-notch touring potential:

Keep Fido and Fluffy at Bay

While your cat or dog may be a four-legged member of the family, leaving him or her in the house during a showing has the potential to ruin a buying opportunity. If a buyer is allergic to your pet, they may not be able to even tour your home. If a buyer is afraid of your pet, they may not want to. Plus even if a fearful buyer continues to tour your home, they will focus most of their attention on looking out for your pet and not at the features of the house. Finally, pets left alone in your house also have the potential to become fearful and cause a problem during the tour.

Quick Trick: In order to keep your furry family member safe, look into bringing him or her to a pet day care, the groomers, or a neighbor or friend’s house for the day. If none of these options are available, kennel or crate your pet in a secluded part of your home.

About Face
One of the easiest and most effective ways to create space and organization in your home is to use a practice called facing. This merchandising technique can be accomplished simply by turning labels to face forward and arranging like-sized items together. Facing items in your home not only makes it seem large and inviting, but also makes homebuyers believe that if they lived in your home, they could be organized too.

Quick Trick: Apply the facing technique to your kitchen. Facing items in your pantry, cabinets, and even in your refrigerator will make your cooking quarters seem appealing and orderly. It’s guaranteed to be a highlight of the tour!
