What To Look For In Off Campus Housing Part Two

What To Look For In Off Campus Housing Part Two

Welcome back to our countdown of the top 10 considerations for moving off campus! If you haven’t been following our blog, feel free to get yourself caught up by taking a look at our previous posts. Otherwise, keep reading because the countdown continues here!

4. Location

Location is everything with off campus housing. Being close to your friends, your classes, and your favorite bars and restaurants is essential for the ultimate college experience! Trust us… despite your best intentions, cooking will not happen as often as you think, especially when there is a Chipotle down the block.

5. Safety
We don’t want to sound like your mom, but safety should be a high priority. Remember, you aren’t living in the impenetrable fortress that is a dorm anymore, so it’s time to get smart. Look for a place in a safe neighborhood with things like locking windows, sturdy entryways, and smoke detectors. Added security features such as cameras and door code systems are a plus!

6. Personality
One of the best things about your college years is that you’ll likely have the opportunity to live in a place with a little personality. Maybe it’s Tiki bar you installed on the back patio, or the living room where you watched Game of Thrones together each week, be sure you choose a place that has enough character to live up to what are sure to be some of the best four years of your life.

7. Amenities
Simply put; amenities are awesome. While they are not always easy to find, especially in urban areas where space is limited, a few added benefits will take your off campus living experience to the next level. Clearly ranking at the top of the sought-after list are pools and fitness centers. However, even the smallest added perks can make a huge difference. Between classes, studying, and extracurricular activities, the average college student is usually pretty busy so things like 24-hour surveillance or on-site parking are often more useful in the long run than the more flashy amenities.
